Question: What hair styles do you see trending for summer 2016?

Lizzie Liros: I have just returned back from Europe where I worked throughout the Greek Islands styling summer brides. Europe tends to be ahead of us with trends and this season was all about simple understated elegance and classic styling.

Brides are leaning towards very polished looks with high shine and perfectly finished styling. Elegant buns, flowing soft waves and sophisticated ponytails are all on trend. Braids and curls are being added on to soften styles and add texture and variation.

Question: And, what is on-trend specifically for formal hairstyles?

Lizzie Liros: Formal hair has come along way in the past few years. Young women today know exactly what they want and are emulating the trends we are seeing in young celebrities on red carpets and at fashion events.

This year for formal hair there is a trend towards very undone styling. There is a lot of fly-aways and fall-outs, very loose and flowing styling. Braids are so in fashion at the moment, everyone wants a braid or a plait. Loose effortless waves are right on trend for down styles.

Question: Is it possible for us to create these hairstyles, at home?

Lizzie Liros: You will always get a more professional and flawless finish when the style is created by a qualified hairdresser, however these simple and elegant styles can certainly be tried at home. I would suggest practicing a few times before the big night.

Question: What are your three top tips to prepare for our formal hairstyle, especially if we're doing it ourselves?

Lizzie Liros: If you are doing it yourself, keep it simple. The easier the style the higher your chance of making it look flawless.

Use a heat protection spray whenever you use heat tools to protect the quality of your hair.
Invest in a good quality treatment in the lead up to your formal to get hair in optimal health and condition. Healthy hair is shiny hair.

Question: How important is it to match our hairstyle to our dress?

Lizzie Liros: It is really important, the two should complement each other not compete. Your hair is like your shoes; you would never finish your outfit off with a pair of shoes that completely clashed. The same goes for your chosen hair style.

Question: Are you able to talk us through what hairstyle match which dress styles?

Lizzie Liros: There are many factors that effect what hairstyle is best for your personal dress choice, but here are some general rules to follow:

Don't pair a busy dress with busy hair
Busy dress = simple hair
A simple dress, you can have more textured, intricate and detailed hair
A high neckline is best with hair up
A busy bust area of neck line is again best with hair up
A strapless dress works well with your hair down
A shorter, more youthful dress is great paired back with your hair out, curls or with a bit of volume.
A voluminous dress (think more of a red carpet ball gown) is beautiful paired back with an elegant bun or simple polished hair up

Question: How can our hair complement our facial features (general tips here - maybe three)?
Lizzie Liros: Yes, your hair can either complement or detract from your features. It is always best to seek professional advice from a stylist who can personally assess your hair type, colouring and create style for you that is 100% complimentary to your features.

The right hairstyle can soften strong facial features or help detract attention from features you don't want to emphasize. Likewise, the right style and colour can draw attention to features and highlight elements you do want people to focus on.

So getting your cut, colour and style right is really important.

Question: What are your favourite setting hair products?

Lizzie Liros: I use are Lóreal Professional because they have a product for everyone's needs and hair type.

Question: What three hair products could you not live without?

Lizzie Liros: Volume Powder to support volume in the hair. Thermal Spray for setting and protection and a good old strong hairspray to finish.
