Nathan Lamont Drink You Up

Nathan Lamont Drink You Up

From appearing on Young Talent Time as a fresh faced 18-year-old, to competing in the prestigious Toyota Star Maker competition, and nationally televised talent search The Voice, Nathan Lamont, has already enjoyed an illustrious career. At last, the singer-songwriter releases his debut single, 'Drink You Up'.

'Drink You Up' has all the hallmarks of a modern country hit. Immaculate production and catchy hooks, bolstered by Lamont's breath-taking voice. The uplifting mid-tempo track was inspired by long days away from his wife of 8 years.

"It describes in a cheeky way the feelings experienced watching my wife head off to work of a morning and missing her throughout the day until she gets home."

Lamont recruited Alex Mather to produce his debut at Only Hits Studios. As soon Lamont and Mather began work on the track, he knew it would be his first single. "The song was written a couple of months prior and I couldn't wait to get into the studio to hear this song come to life outside of singing this in my bedroom on an acoustic guitar."

Growing up in an out of foster care, before eventually living with his single mother on a budget of welfare payments; nothing has come easy to Lamont. If he learned one thing, it was the value of hard work.

His first bout on the stage was at the Tamworth CCMA Talent Quest when he was 9. Admittedly, he didn't win, but "from there on I had the taste for performing and stealing the limelight". He returned 6 years later to take home first place.

But that was just the beginning. He went on to appear on the nationally televised Young Talent Time (2010) and The Voice (2014, 2016); and has been a two-time finalist in Australia's most prestigious country music talent quest, Toyota Star Maker. He even received mentorship from none other than Keith Urban. "I would email him some of my songs and he would provide response and inspiration."

Before too long, people were resonating with the singer-songwriter's impressive voice around Australia. The Wiradjuri boy from rural Wagga Wagga was opening stages for massive acts like Thirsty Merc and Morgan Evans.

Everything about Nathan Lamont's journey has influenced his music. "I try to write music that is uplifting or positive, I struggle to tap into my struggles as it unravels too many unaddressed things from the past."

'Drink You Up' is Country-Pop at its finest. The meticulously crafted track feels as though it could have easily emerged from a writer's room in Nashville. Remember the name Nathan Lamont – with performances like this he's certain to be around for a long time.
